How do we define good writing? Work we publish answers the “so what?” question. It matters, and the consequences are clear. It is not written in a vacuum but with an awareness of other writing on the subject, in the style, or in any way of the same lineage. It looks to the reader and invites a response. Good writing results in a movement for the reader from one place of understanding at the first word to a different place of knowing or questioning by the last word.
