Narratives of what is yet to be achieved move us. We believe that our imaginations give us the capacity to empathize with experiences we have not had, and to create the solutions to many challenges facing our world. For this reason we publish literary nonfiction, fiction and poetry that is both timeless and urgent, embracing all aesthetics.
Our mission is to curate the best ideas from across the world. We acknowledge that English is the lingua franca of the twenty-first century but crave access to knowledge generated in other languages. We publish translations to or from English alongside originals in other languages.
We seek to publish writing to challenge existing portrayals of the marginalized, oppressed, occupied and ignored, defined provocatively or traditionally by the author. Liminal states, borders, and ‘spaces between’ are where we want to travel as readers. We launch new voices and expand the readership of established authors. We aim to surprise.
We are committed to the power of the written word to change lives, perspectives and policies. Literature is our democracy and we want you to be a citizen of our community.
